I am passionate about education. I come from a family of educators, both in the traditional sense and non traditional sense. My maternal grandmother worked in the central office of Chicago Public Schools, my mother is a retired educator of 30 plus years and my father is a retired Marine (if there is a such thing as a retired Marine), who is just as passionate about education as my mother and I am. He is always pushing all of his two children and grandchildren to read, ask questions and try things out. Although he doesn't have a credential, I would say that I got the teaching gene from both parents.
I have been in education for over 20 years and am currently an elementary principal. It is a very rewarding job. Yes, it's stressful, but seeing the children at my site blossom as young people and scholars is a true blessing.
